SHARE THE RIDE FUNDRAISER
On Saturday , Sept. 26, 2009 Fordec held a fundraiser in Alameda, California at the Italian American League Hall. The turnout exceeded everyone’s expectations. While many people bought tickets in advance, many more bought tickets at the door. We estimate that over 100 people attended the event.
The event was to raise money to buy bicycles for poor Thai children who have to walk a long way to get to school..
A Thai buffet dinner was served: Pad Thai, green chicken curry and rice, garden salad, Thai papaya salad, barbecued pork, and lasagna.
Fordec founder Dr. Amporn Watanawongs gave a brief welcome and explanation of the program
Thai musicians and dancers from Wat Buddhanusorn Thai Temple in Fremont entertained the guests.
An auction for a kid’s bike and two pictures actually painted by Thai elephants went to the highest bidders.
A silent auction gave everyone who bought a ticket the chance to win some really great prizes.
The highlight of the evening was the drawing for the three main prizes: a trip for two to Thailand, a 3 nights stay at the Nagahill Resort in Chiangmai and a $1000 hair removal treatment at the Reviv Med Spa.
- Grand Prize Winner: Marcia Wheeler of Ripton, Vermont Ticket number 237066
- Second Prize Winner: Savathdy Nhok of Alameda, California Ticket number 237588
- Third Prize Winner: Scott Miner of Castro Valley, California Ticket number 237539
